Cali WR excited by U-M offer

3/20/2012

The Michigan coaching staff is very familiar with West Coast prospects from their time spent coaching at San Diego State. The relationships the coaches have established, specifically in California, are still paying dividends now that the staff is at Michigan.

Naturally they are trying to target some of the top California prospects in the 2013 class as well, including wide receiver Demorea Stringfellow (Moreno Valley, Calif./Rancho Verde).

The ESPNU 150 Watch List receiver said the attention and offer from the Wolverines has meant a lot to him.

"It's an offer that really stands out to me because that school is pretty far away," he said. "They have a lot of great players out in Michigan, and for them to come out to California and get me means a lot to me."

Stringfellow is focused on his upcoming season but says he will sit down with his parents sometime soon to discuss his options. He would like to first narrow his list , but he doesn't have an exact date to do so.

Since some of his options, including Michigan, aren't within driving distance of home, he says official visits will likely be his chance to see those programs in person.

Stringfellow also holds offers from Arizona State, UCLA, Nebraska and Washington State, and he is hearing from schools such as Florida, Alabama, Texas, Oregon and USC, among others.

At 6-foot-2, 199 pounds, he possesses a lot of abilities that college programs are looking for.

"I think I'll be an all-purpose receiver," he said. "I won't be the fastest guy, but I'll be a sure-handed receiver and I'll make sure of that."
