Defensive end Chikwe Obasih (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) has already seen offers come in from Wisconsin, Illinois, Purdue, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss among others. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound end has also been hearing from some big-time programs, including Michigan.
Obasih says that he was recently in contact with Michigan's defensive coordinator Greg Mattison, and got a chance to hear what the coach had to say.
"They said that they like what they saw of me on film, and that I could be a great player," he said. "They want a chance to meet me in person and see if they can work with me."
Obasih and his father plan on giving the coaching staff a chance to meet them as they are planning on a mid-April visit to Ann Arbor. The recruiting process between the defensive lineman and Michigan has just begun, so he isn't quite sure what to think yet.
"We just want to see how amazing the university is and want a chance to experience it," Obasih said. "Michigan is a traditional powerhouse, so that would be amazing if an offer happened to come my way."
He says he'd like to make a decision by mid to late summer, but if he doesn't find that right school then at least by midseason.
"I'll know it's right when I love the feel of the university, the coaching staff and the chance for the program to be successful," he said.
