No. 5 Michigan to host No. 17 Notre Dame

March, 9, 2012
The No. 5 Michigan hockey team hosts No. 17 Notre Dame this weekend in the quarterfinals of the CCHA Tournament. It's a best-of-three series with games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (if necessary) at 7:35 p.m. (ET).

Michigan is led by freshman forward Alex Guptill and junior forward A.J. Treais, who've registered 16 and 15 goals this season, respectively. Michigan coach Red Berenson, in his 27th season, is looking to lead his Wolverines to their 22nd consecutive NCAA tournament appearance, the longest streak ever in college hockey.

Earlier this season the two teams split games in South Bend. Notre Dame snapped Michigan's nine-game win streak on the first night with a 3-1 win, but the Wolverines came out the second night and repaid the Fighting Irish, putting them away 2-1.

If the Wolverines win they'll advance to next weekend's CCHA tournament semifinals in Detroit.
