Michigan senior guard Zack Novak is an All-American -- in the classroom.
The Chesterton, Ind. native was named a third-team academic All-American on Thursday, an award picked by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Novak is the sixth Michigan basketball player to be named an academic All-American and the first since Dan Peledkoudas was a fourth-teamer in 1982 and then honorable mention in 1984. To be eligible for the award, Novak has to have at least a 3.3 Grade Point Average and play in 50 percent of Michigan's games.
A business major, Novak is scheduled to graduate in May.
