Notes from Brady Hoke's Big Ten call

October, 25, 2011
Brady Hoke just finished up his weekly 10 minutes with the league media. Didn't say much beyond what he discussed Monday, but here are a few bullet points of note:

  • Hoke is impressed with Purdue cornerback Ricardo Allen -- who had an interception return for a touchdown last year against Michigan. Hoke seemed so concerned, he openly wondered if the Wolverines match up well with him.

"He's a guy that's got a bunch of quickness to him," Hoke said. "If you're scouting, he's loose in the hips and a guy who is doing a lot of different things."
  • Hoke is still close enough to his time at Ball State where he recruited some of Purdue's players. He declined to say who, but said "I don't think we were close" on any of them. He did say his staff went up against the Boilermakers in recruiting, though.

"You always try," Hoke said. "You've got to try, that's part of competition. That's life. It didn't matter who was recruiting anybody. You put your best foot forward and you never know what is going to be the spark for having a kid falling in love with a place."
