2013 Recruiting: Quick hitters

October, 21, 2011
The Michigan coaches have been hitting the 2013 recruiting trail hard. They already have secured ESPNU 150 Watch List prospects quarterback Shane Morris (Warren, Mich./De La Salle) and defensive back Dymonte Thomas (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) and are looking for more.

Here are a few quick hitters from 2013 prospects that have heard from Michigan recently:

  • Linebacker Peter Kalambayi (Matthews, N.C./Butler) spoke with the Michigan coaches last week. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker goes to the same school that 2011 linebacker Kris Frost did. Frost ended up at Auburn, if you recall. Kalambayi says he is definitely interested in Michigan. "I like Michigan academically and athletically, so I'm very interested in them. I'm going to contact (defensive line coach) Coach (Jerry) Montgomery again soon," he said. Kalambayi also said he will probably know his final decision around this time next year.
  • Offensive lineman Patrick Kugler (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) got a visit from offensive line coach Darrell Funk this week. "Coach Funk came to one of my practices earlier this week. He talked to my offensive line coach and told him that it was nice to see me play in person, and that they would get me up for a visit soon," Kugler said. It was outlined in this article that Kugler grew up in Michigan, and his father is the offensive line coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. An offer for Kugler is probably coming soon.
