With a few weeks left until signing day for the 2012 class, the Michigan coaches have started to submerse themselves into the 2013 class. They started off fast and strong for 2012 and would like to continue that momentum into this next class as well.

Their efforts resulted in a new offer going out Friday to outside linebacker Jaylon Smith (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Luers). The 6-foot-2, 210-pound backer said he took the initiative to get in touch with the coaches Friday.

"I was just sitting at home and I know Coach (Curt) Mallory wanted me to call him, so I called him," he said. "Coach (Brady) Hoke was the one that offered, but I got a chance to talk to all of the coaches. They were just telling me how I could help and impact Michigan."
