Deeper in the stats: QB Devin Gardner

August, 22, 2013
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- It’s not hard to recognize that Devin Gardner and Denard Robinson are two very different quarterbacks.

Robinson, who has been the face of the program over the past few seasons, left the reigns to Gardner, who looks to lead it this year and next, both on and off the field.

On the field, Gardner is more of a pro-style, pocket passer. Yes, he has wheels but not quite like the electric Robinson. ESPN's stats and information team decided to dive deeper into the numbers and used ESPN’s new Total QBR metric for college football to really quantify Gardner’s skills as a quarterback. Their results can be found here.
