The recruiting process isn't just about the prospects. The parents of those recruits are also a big part of the decision-making process and college coaches know that. It's important to make the parents feel comfortable, and that's part of the appeal to Michigan's annual barbecue.

The barbecue is an exclusive event for a small number of Michigan targets and their families. It gives the prospects and parents a chance to interact with the coaches on a more personal level, and gives them an opportunity to see everything Michigan has to offer in a low-pressure atmosphere.
