Quick hits with Beilein, Novak

December, 28, 2011
Michigan coach John Beilein and senior guard Zack Novak met with members of the media on Wednesday to discuss the non-conference season, the Wolverines' 10-2 record and Penn State.

  • Beilein said he hasn't started thinking too far into the schedule and that he only wants to figure out how Michigan can be 1-0. Despite the Wolverines 1-6 start to the Big Ten schedule last season, Beilein said he wasn't surprised by any of the games because Michigan played each team very tough. However, he did note that he thought they played very poorly against Minnesota at home.
  • Beilein says Penn State looks very similar to the Wolverines on film -- lots of outside shooting. "They’re still working to establish and inside game. … They have a good plan for what they have because they don’t have a dominating guy, but they lead the Big Ten in offensive rebounding so they’re finding other ways to get the ball inside."
