LSU, FSU standing out to Malachi Dupre

By Derek Tyson

BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Four-star wide receiver Malachi Dupre (River Ridge, La./John Curtis) is being recruited by just about every major college in the nation.

The 6-foot-3, 187-pound wideout said he is planning to visit Florida State, Arkansas, Clemson and Auburn over the summer.

Being from Louisiana, the Tigers already have made an impression on the talented pass-catcher.

"I have a lot of friends that go there," Dupre said. "They have a winning program; year in and year out they are at the top of the SEC and have a chance at the national championship. They always have a great schedule and have a great fan base."

Like the Tigers, FSU has also caught Dupre’s attention. The No. 28-ranked player in the country has started to develop a strong relationship with FSU coach Jimbo Fisher.

"I heard it's a great place," Dupre said. "So I just want to see for myself. I have a few friends that are going there like Kain [Daub], he was an LSU commit, but he decommitted. A lot of guys that went to other schools said FSU was their second choice by far.

"I talk to coach Jimbo Fisher on the phone all the time. He was like, 'If you need a father figure to tell you goodnight, just call me before you go to sleep.' "

Though he admits teams like Notre Dame, Arkansas, LSU, Auburn and UCLA are schools he talks with the most, he claims no favorites at this time.

"No one in particular is standing out," Dupre said. "I'm still, like, narrowing things down like a favorite or anything like that. By the end of the summer I'll have an idea of who I want to be there at the end.

"I want a school with a good fan base. A place where I can be happy, because I have to spend the next four years of my life there. Make sure the coaching staff will give me the best they possibly can for the next three-to-four years."

Dupre has no time frame on when he will make a decision.
