ATH Speedy Noil breaks down his top four
By Greg Ostendorf
BUFORD, Ga. -- ESPN Watch List athlete Speedy Noil (New Orleans/Edna Karr) earned his invitation to The Opening back in February at the New Orleans SPARQ Combine. That didn’t stop him from attending the Atlanta NFTC on Saturday.
Noil didn’t go to participate in the camp. He went to support his teammate, defensive end Gerald Willis III. After a strong performance in Atlanta, Willis will be joining Noil in Oregon for The Opening. He received his invite on Saturday.
Although he didn’t work out, Noil did talk about recruiting and his top four -- LSU, Texas A&M, Florida and USC.
LSU: “They’re the home school. They really offer me the things that I want from a program. They try to get the ball in the best player’s hands. They have a new offensive coordinator. I’m trying to see what he’s going to do next season, see if he’s going to throw the ball.
Texas A&M: “They’re five-wide with a great quarterback, Johnny [Manziel]. He has different weapons he can go to on offense.
Florida: “They’re a wildcat team. They want to put me at quarterback/wide receiver, try to get the ball in my hands.
USC: “They have the top two wide receivers that go over 1,000 yards with 10 catches a game. I’m looking forward to seeing that system. That’s why they’re in my top four.”
Noil has seen each school except USC, which he plans to try and visit this summer. The 6-foot, 176-pound wide receiver plans to make a final decision at the Under Armour All-America, along with Willis.
Will the two play together?
“I’m just looking for a winning program, a team that plays together and a team that tries to win by getting the ball to the best player’s hands,” Noil said.
