A look at New Orleans' 2014 Class
By Gary Laney
Most states would be happy to have eight players among the top 300 in the nation.
In Louisiana, that's just one metro area this year.
Here are the eight New Orleans-area players on the ESPN 2014 Watch List, plus a few more to keep an eye on:
RB Leonard Fournette (New Orleans/St. Augustine): A player with a rare combination of size, speed and feel for the game, Fournette is considered to be a game-changer for the team fortunate enough to land his services.
Part of a bumper crop of New Orleans prospects in 2014, Speedy Noil is a game-changing WR with speed to burn.
ATH Speedy Noil (New Orleans/Karr): One of the fastest players in the country, Noil is part of Karr's national powerhouse 4x100 relay team. With the ball in his hands, he is electric.
LB Kenny Young (River Ridge/John Curtis): A vicious tackler, Young is Louisiana's best 2014 linebacker prospect.
OG William Clapp (New Orleans/Brother Martin): The son of former LSU defensive tackle Tommy Clapp, the LSU commit brings his father's tenacity to the offensive side of the ball.
CB Jermaine Roberts (New Orleans/St. Augustine): Small but fast, Roberts has built an offer sheet that includes five of the SEC West's seven teams.
DT Gerald Willis III (New Orleans/Karr): Originally listed as a defensive end, Willis' big body has had him reclassified as a defensive tackle. He might have the agility to play end, too.
WR Malachi Dupre (River Ridge/John Curtis): At a lanky 6-foot-3, Dupre is one of the nation's premier big, downfield receiving threats.
OG Joseph Paul (New Orleans (St. Augustine): A big-bodied lead blocker for Fournette, Paul recently committed to Florida.
