SEC schools recruiting Cleveland Glenville
By Jared Shanker
INDIANAPOLIS -- If someone is going to break the Ohio State pipeline into Cleveland Glenville, then who else but the SEC to do it?
ESPN Watch List athlete Marshon Lattimore has an Ohio State offer and several teammates playing for the Buckeyes, but he said he does not have any favorites. Three programs he hopes to land an offer from are Alabama, Florida and LSU -- and one of them has been in touch.
“Alabama has been messaging me on Facebook,” the 2014 receiver/cornerback said.
Tennessee is the latest to offer the 6-foot, 178-pound Lattimore, extending a scholarship about a month ago. The only visit Lattimore has set up at the moment is to Knoxville, and that trip will take place in March for a spring practice.
Teammate Erick Smith, who also holds a Volunteers offer, will join him.
“I like the locker rooms and all the new stuff, they showed me a picture,” Lattimore said. “I want to see it in person.”
While Lattimore’s 2014 teammate Marcelys Jones committed to Ohio State in December, traditionally Glenville prospects take official visits and decide after their senior season. That is the approach Lattimore is taking.
“I’m interested in every school right now,” he said.
Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Penn State and USC are among the schools to offer Lattimore.
He was named MVP among defensive backs at the Best of the Midwest combine Monday after turning in a stellar performance at the position and running a 4.42 in the 40-yard dash and leaping 10 feet in the broad jump.
