ATH Watts sees LSU; Bama next?
By Damon Sayles
LSU hosted several athletes at Saturday’s junior day, and Armani Watts (Forney, Texas/North Forney) was one of them. Now, the 6-foot, 184-pound athlete is debating on whether or not he’ll attend this weekend’s junior day at Alabama.
Watts said he enjoyed his first trip to Baton Rouge, La., and was pleasantly surprised with everything. He admitted that he was uncertain as to what to expect prior to making the trip.
“It was a good experience. I really liked the campus,” Watts said. “What I liked most from the visit was the atmosphere and the fact that you have support from everybody.”
Watts said he had heard LSU was a great facility, and he knew the football program had a lot of tradition. Getting the chance to see the campus in person was a big deal for Watts, and being with some commits and several and big-name targets helped to enhance his experience.
Watts didn’t pick up an LSU offer, but he has offers from UCLA, Clemson, Baylor, North Texas and, most recently, Oklahoma State. He was a true athlete for North Forney during the 2012 season, rushing for 1,017 yards and seven touchdowns and throwing for 756 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught eight passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns.
Watts said he will have Alabama on his mind this week, as he has been invited to Saturday's junior day. He’s already visited Baylor for a junior day.
