ESPN 150 S Priest Willis will wait
By Erik McKinney
It looked as though the UCLA Bruins were on track to close the gap on the USC Trojans for the top recruiting class in the Pac-12, thanks to some late verbal commitments. But now it appears Jim Mora's program might need to do so without its top-rated commitment.
ESPN 150 safety Priest Willis (Tempe, Ariz./Marcos De Niza) made a verbal commitment to the Bruins on Jan. 23, despite a late, hard charge from several schools, including LSU. Now, two weeks later, Willis said he will not sign a letter of intent to any school on Wednesday.
This late change of plans would seem to mean good news for the Tigers, who continued their recruitment of Willis despite his commitment and would seem to benefit from the decision not to sign on Wednesday. Willis' recruitment will likely come to a conclusion later this week, when he is able to discuss things fully with his parents.
Of course, this is recruiting, so there's no telling how this situation will unfold 24 hours from now.
