LSU offers 2014 in-state linebacker

By Gary Laney

BATON ROUGE, La. -- John Curtis Christian, perhaps Louisiana's premier high school football powerhouse, is having a great run at linebacker.

After 2013 linebacker Duke Riley began getting major offers after the the Patriots' state-title 2012 season, including a grayshirt offer from LSU in December, 2014 linebacker Kenny Young received a huge offer Saturday.

Young, an ESPN Watch List prospect, earned an offer from LSU while at the Tigers' Boys from the Boot junior day, he said in a text message.

Riley and Young were the heart of a Patriots defense that won Louisiana's Class 2A title and finished No. 5 in the ESPN 25 Power Ratings.

Young suffered a serious leg injury as a sophomore, but had a solid junior campaign as the Patriots ran the table while rarely seeing a serious challenge from their opposition. He's known for being fluid and quick with the ability to cover, but with a body type that should allow him to comfortably get to a solid college playing weight.
