Ricky Seals-Jones sets Texas A&M official
By Sam Khan Jr.
ESPN 150 athlete Ricky Seals-Jones took the months of October and November to take unofficial visits to LSU and Texas A&M, but last week, the schools came to him as the in-home visit period began.
First was LSU special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey on Nov. 26, then Texas A&M recruiting coordinator and running backs coach Clarence McKinney followed three days later in making the trip to Sealy, Texas.
Top athlete Ricky Seals-Jones will take official visits to Texas A&M and LSU before deciding.
Both visits went well, according to Seals-Jones, and were similar.
"Both of them came to the crib and hung out for a little bit and talked it up a little bit," Seals-Jones said. "I had a good time."
Seals-Jones said each coach discussed in detail the academic side of what their respective school had to offer.
"That's what both of them were really talking about, mainly about academics and seeing where we live and seeing the campus and letting my mom see the campus," Seals-Jones said. "That pretty much sums it up for both schools. They came over and you know my dad's a character, so we had them laughing and rolling. It was great."
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound four-star prospect, who is ranked No. 1 among athletes nationwide, also said he has set the date for his official visit to Texas A&M. He will make that visit on the weekend of Jan. 11. He has not yet set a date for his LSU official visit.
He also talked briefly about his last unofficial visit to Aggieland, which came when Texas A&M defeated Missouri 59-29 on Nov. 24. His mother Buffy and father Chester attended that game with him.
"It was a blowout but it was good," Seals-Jones said. "I had fun, got in the locker room, I met a lot of the players. They wanted me to go out with them, but you know how mom is. She shut that down real quick [laughs]. But it was a good, fun experience."
