David Kamara decommits from Clemson

By Kipp Adams

Less than a week after No. 1 prospect Robert Nkemdiche (Loganville, Ga./Grayson) decommitted from Clemson, teammate and close friend David Kamara (Loganville, Ga./Grayson) has followed suit.

The three-star defensive back made the call to Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney shortly before making an unofficial visit with Nkemdiche to Ole Miss on Saturday.

"I called Dabo up and just let him know I needed to take a step back and re-evaluate my options," Kamara said. "This is my life, so I need to make sure I make the right decision."

Kamara saw another former teammate suit up for the Rebels on Saturday, and he feels joining him in Oxford, Miss., is an appealing factor for Ole Miss.

"Denzel (Nkemdiche) is out there making plays, and he told us they need some help on the defensive line and in the secondary," Kamara said. "I really enjoyed playing with him, so it would be great to do it again."

Right now, the plan for Kamara and Nkemdiche is to put recruiting on the back burner as they focus on the playoffs. Kamara says he is interested in Ole Miss and Clemson, as well as Florida and LSU, who he says made recent contact with him. Official visits likely will come after the season is over.  After the loss of Kamara, Clemson now has 17 commitments for the 2013 class.
