LSU camp: DT McDowell impresses

BATON ROUGE, La. -- By lunchtime Monday, the top prospect at LSU's 2014 June football camp had ice on his foot and was done for the day.

Before he was done, though, ESPN 150 defensive tackle Garrald McDowell (Covington, La./Covington) had put together a compelling performance as he built his case to have LSU join the growing list of schools that have offered him.

He looked strong and quick and while his size -- he hovers in the 250-pound range -- remains an issue, he looked as if he could add weight and still be effective.

LSU sure would have liked to have seen more of his skills before a foot injury suffered during morning one-on-one drills ended his day and sent him home. But he wasn't the only prospect who made an impression in the second day of the camp. Here's a rundown:
