LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Although it’s doubtful LSU coach Les Miles and his staff wanted a list of players who were missing team workouts made public, it doesn’t appear it will have a negative effect with any of the Tigers’ targets.
Earlier in the week a picture of a sign placed in the window of LSU’s strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffit’s office went viral and has been the topic plenty of discussion on the Internet and radio stations.
Several players participating this week in the Under Armour All-America Game here heard about the photo and were surprised when they saw it.
“Oh my ... ” said ESPN 150 athlete Kendell Beckwith (Jackson, La./East Feliciana). “I definitely don’t want to be on that list.”
LSU commit Jeryl Brazil (Loranger, La./Loranger) says it shows that no one player at LSU is bigger than the team.
“I think it’s important to have high standards, and at a program like LSU everyone needs to be accountable and on the same page,” Brazil said. “I look forward to the challenge and I promise you I won’t end up on that list.”
Beckwith, who will choose between Alabama and LSU during Friday’s game, said the sign will have no outcome on his decision.
“Wherever I go I know I’m going to have to work hard anyway, so the fact that LSU coaches are so demanding is a good thing,” Beckwith said. “They want it to be about the betterment of the team. Alabama is the same way. Either you are with the team 100 percent or you’re out.”
