ESPN 150 member and LSU commit Jeryl Brazil (Loranger, La./Loranger) celebrated his inclusion in the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game in style this past Friday.
After he received his jersey for those proceedings, he got back to work in his Loranger jersey. Brazil continued his big season as the Wolves' quarterback in a 42-18 win against Bogalusa, but he showed off the skills that make him dangerous in several spots: he rushed for touchdowns of 1 and 7 yards, and he added a pick-six from the cornerback spot. Loranger is 6-0 with Brazil at the helm and is set for a serious push at the Class 3A state title.
Here's how the rest of LSU's massive recruiting class fared this weekend:
Hayden Rettig: The 6-foot-3 quarterback suffered his worst performance of the year, a 15-of-41, 138-yard, three-interception performance for Cathedral (Los Angeles) in its first loss of the season, a 42-3 blowout to Serra.
Anthony Jennings: Dual-threat quarterback went 8-of-10 for 169 yards and three touchdowns, with another 59 rushing yards on 12 carries in a 56-21 Marietta (Ga.) win against Kennesaw Mountain.
DeSean Smith: The ESPN 150 tight end of Barbe (Lake Charles, La.) hauled in three catches for 61 yards in the Bucs' 41-37 win against Carencro.
Rickey Jefferson: The Destrehan (La.) standout was held scoreless Friday night against John Ehret, although Ehret's focus on Jefferson freed up other weapons in a 42-24 win.
Chuck Baker: The Salmen (Slidell, La.) wide receiver brought in four receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown in the Spartans' convincing 36-6 win against Hammond.
John Diarse: ESPN 150 athlete, playing quarterback for Neville (Monroe, La.) completed 5-of-7 passes for 110 yards and three scores with a pick. The Tigers racked up 248 rushing yards in a 53-3 win against West Ouachita.
Frank Herron: Herron and his Memphis Central (Tenn.) defense held Hamilton to a mere 12 points, but it wasn't enough in a 12-7 loss.
Quantavius Leslie: Leslie had one of just two scores, 5-yard TD reception for Hinds Community College (Jackson, Miss.), in a 50-15 loss to Jones Community College.
K.J. Malone: The four-star offensive guard and his Cedar Creek (La.) squad beat St. Frederick, 50-14
Ethan Pocic: The ESPN 150 offensive tackle and his Lemont (Ill.) team rolled over Bremen, 47-7.
Rashard Robinson: Robinson's Ely Blanche (Pompano Beach, Fla.) defense gave up 184 rushing yards in a 19-0 loss to Deerfield Beach.
Tevin Lawson: Two-way linemen for Denham Springs (La.) helped pave the way for 219 rushing yards and limited Live Oak to 94 total yards in a 30-7 win.
Lewis Neal: Posted two sacks -- one of them for a safety -- in a 30-21 win for his Hunt (N.C.) Warriors against rivals Southern Nash.
Michael Patterson: Defensive end for Winnfield (La.) helped crush Holy Savior Menard, 62-0. The Tigers have outscored their last two opponents, 139-12.
Tre'Davious White: Green Oaks (La.) athlete fired a touchdown pass in the Giants' 34-6 romp against Ringgold.
Josh Boutte: Offensive guard for Westgate (La.) lost a 42-35 shootout to Central Lafourche, dropping the Tigers to 0-7.
Melvin Jones: Athlete from Washington-Marion (La.) hauled in the game-winning points on a 48-yard touchdown reception in a 22-15 win against DeRidder.
Kennard Swanson: Swason projects at fullback for LSU, but his Lake Gibson (Fla.) defense, where he plays defensive tackle, forced five turnovers in a 26-0 beating of Ridge Community.
Logan Stokes: The Tigers' tight end commit from Northeast Mississippi Community College totaled three catches for 33 yards in a brutal 49-0 loss to East Mississippi Community College.
Jeremy Cutrer: The Jewel-Sumner (Kentwood, La.) safety helped down Amite, 28-19, on Friday night.
