The weather in the area has been cooling down recently, with temperatures dropping as low as the mid-50s in an uncharacteristically cool start to October for southeast Louisiana.
Weather aside, that's not the case for LSU Laboratory School, which has been on a tear in the last month of play. The Cubs are on a three-game run since dropping a 26-21 heartbreaker to Class 3A Loranger and its do-everything quarterback, Jeryl Brazil. The most recent victim was District 7-2A rival Episcopal, which U-High defeated in a 57-10 shellacking to open district play.
The Cubs paved the way to 182 yards of rushing offense, which had to be a good feeling for 2014 offensive lineman Garrett Brumfield, who soon after boarded a flight to Gainesville, Fla., to watch Florida's 14-6 win over LSU. Brumfield talked at length about his trip -- the first visit of his junior season -- on Sunday.
