LSU awards tracker: Week 1

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Each week, we track how the LSU Tigers on various national awards watch lists are doing. Here's how they did in Saturday's 41-14 win over North Texas.

DE Barkevious Mingo (Bednarik Award, Nagurski Award, Rotary Lombardi Award): Mingo wreaked havoc with six tackles, one for loss and a quarterback hurry against a team desperately trying to avoid him. He didn't get the sacks he'll need to win national awards, though.

DE Sam Montgomery (Bednarik Award, Nagurski Award, Rotary Lombardi Award): The biggest shocker Saturday was that Montgomery was not in the starting lineup, coming off the bench for senior Lavar Edwards. He played plenty but didn't register any statistics, which won't help his cause.
