Russell Shepard appears to have finally answered the riddles surrounding his status for the 2012 season.
On Friday night a tweet was posted to his official Twitter account, indicating that Shepard will return to play his senior season for the Tigers.
"I would like to tell everyone that I had a great talk with my family and Coach Miles and I will be attending LSU for my senior season," it said.
The news comes after several days of rampant speculation on the junior's future, largely fueled by posts on Shepard's Twitter account. Beginning the day after LSU lost to Alabama in the BCS Championship game, posts on Shepard's account indicated that he was considering whether to remain at LSU or declare early for the NFL draft.
Shepard seems to have put that question to rest. Another tweet followed the announcement, reading "I couldn't leave yet....I never been to Miami....Lol. Geaux Tigers."
Miami is the site of next season's BCS Championship Game.
