ATHENS, Ga. -- To this point, no decommitment has resonated more loudly during Mark Richt’s Georgia tenure than when Da’Rick Rogers flipped from the Bulldogs to Tennessee just before national signing day in 2010.

Williams: Visit report a 'misunderstanding'
"It was just a big misunderstanding," Williams said. "I just don't want people to think I have a bad reputation of lying or saying where I am going and things like that. But I told them I wasn't going to be able to make it, because I had a basketball game. When they texted me and asked if I was going, I said I was supposed to go, but some other things came up. We had a game on Saturday, and I wasn't able to make it.”
Williams said he was contacted Saturday by a number of reporters asking if he was on campus, visiting Notre Dame for its Junior Day.
"I told them that I wasn't able to make it," he said. "Before I told them that I wasn't going, someone said that they had seen me there, but I wasn't really there, so it has gotten blown all out of proportion."
Williams' father, Stanley Williams Sr., also confirmed that his son did not make the trip. "If we were to go someplace, we would do it right," the elder Williams said. "We certainly wouldn't tell a lie about nothing."
However, Williams was at a loss to explain quotes attributed to him in which he described his visit to Notre Dame.
"Those are incorrect," Williams said. "I never told anyone I was going anywhere I wouldn't be. I approach the media well, and I tell the truth about my recruitment."
Pressed on where the quotes came from, Williams said of the reporters, "Well, I can't really say what they did and what they didn't [do]."
Williams maintains he is still committed to Georgia. "Most definitely I am a Dawg," Williams said. "Nothing has changed my mind so far in the recruiting process."
However, he told DawgNation on Dec. 27, "My commitment is obviously not as strong as it was before, when I first committed, because of the running backs they have now and [recruiting coordinator Rodney] Garner leaving. It definitely had an effect on how I feel now, but we have a while to go so we will just see what happens."
In that same interview, Williams expressed interest in Auburn, where Garner now coaches, Clemson and Alabama.

Coming off a junior season in which he caught 76 passes for 1,236 yards and 11 touchdowns, returned a punt for a touchdown, and helped his team to a 15-0 record and AAAA state championship, ESPN Watch List wideout Demarre Kitt (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) has become one of the most sought-after Class of 2014 prospects in the Southeast.
As it stands now, two programs are on top for the 6-foot-1, 185-pound junior.

Assistant head coach and recruiting coordinator Rodney Garner and offensive line coach Will Friend were dispatched to the Georgia Dome to see and be seen by the Bulldogs’ targets playing in the Georgia state championship games.
Between them they witnessed cornerback commit Shaq Wiggins (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek), offensive line commit Josh Cardiello (Buford, Ga./Buford), running back target Alvin Kamara (Norcross, Ga./Norcross), linebacker target Korie Rogers (Buford, Ga./Buford), athlete target Myles Autry (Norcross, Ga./Norcross) and wide receiver target Demarre Kitt (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) win state titles. They also saw defensive tackle priority Montravius Adams and his Dooly County (Ga.) High School team come up short in their championship game.

Georgia RB commit takes in FSU game
Instead, the 5-foot-8, 180-pound tailback saw Florida State host its in-state rival Florida in its regular season finale.
"It was crazy watching them go head to head and play for the bragging rights for the rest of the year," he said. "It was a fun place to be in."

While it might be hard to match this year’s depth of top-tier prospects -– Georgia has 31 prospects in the ESPN 300 for the 2013 class –- there is no shortage of talented in-state juniors either. Twenty-five recruits from Georgia are in the initial ESPN Watch List, including three already committed to the Bulldogs in running back Stanley Williams (Monroe, Ga./George Walton Academy), wide receiver Demarre Kitt (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) and defensive back Nick Glass (Atlanta/St. Pius X).
Looking at the other 22 prospects from the Peach State on the list, the Bulldogs have already extended offers to eight of them. On offense are targets with prominent NFL bloodlines. Mammoth offensive lineman Orlando Brown Jr. (Suwanee, Ga./ Peachtree Ridge), son of the late Orlando Brown, stands at 6-foot-8, 360-pounds and adds new offers seemingly every day. Running back Adam Choice (Thomasville, Ga./Thomas County Central) the cousin of former Buffalo Bills running back Joe Burns and Bills’ starting running back Tashard Choice (Georgia Tech), received his first official offer from the Bulldogs back in June. Milan Richard (Savannah, Ga./Calvary Baptist Day) has emerged out of the shadows of his uncle, legendary running back and Heisman Trophy award winner Herschel Walker, to become an outstanding talent on his own merit, and in the process became an early top target for Georgia at tight end.

“It is probably not going to be that battle anymore because Georgia is in the mix now,” Michel said. “Georgia’s great. It is something amazing, something different. I am glad I actually took this visit because it is one of my choices now.”
Michel spent the night Friday in Athens, Ga., and left Saturday. He found it hard to name what he liked the most about his time in the Classic City.

2014 RB Stanley Williams (Monroe, Ga./Walton Academy): It was at last year’s Dawg Night that Williams’ performance earned a scholarship offer from Mark Richt. The rising sophomore pounced on it and committed on the spot. Williams returned to Sanford Stadium on Friday night and showed that such an early offer was warranted. The 5-foot-8, 189-pound tailback made many spectacular catches that had the other attendees cheering him on and teasing those who failed to cover him. On one play he caught a pass on a crossing pattern and outran two defenders, showcasing the speed for which he has become known.
2014 TE Milan Richard (Savannah, Ga./Calvary Baptist Day School): Richard had a great Mark Richt Camp in June and at Dawg Night he just picked up where he left off. No one could cover the young tight end and he wound up with catch after catch in the end zone. Bulldogs quarterback commit Brice Ramsey (Kingsland, Ga./Camden), who had a great night himself, mentioned that Richard really impressed him. No one could stop Richard coming off the line and he had great separation in almost every route. The highlight of his performance came on a pass where the ball came in behind him and over his head, yet Richard was able to haul it in for a touchdown.

Nearly all of the Bulldogs’ committed prospects and many more whom the coaches are evaluating will participate in drills this evening at Sanford Stadium -- providing comparisons that defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said are integral to the coaches’ determination on the players that best fit the program.
“There’s a lot of things that go into evaluating a guy,” Grantham said Friday afternoon. “It’s athletic ability, it’s how they take coaching when you’re out there and you’re directing them, it’s the tools that they have right now, just raw skills. And I think what you’ve got to do is you’ve got to take each individual guy and you’ve got to say from a vision standpoint, ‘What can this guy develop to be?’

2014 standouts to catch up at Dawg Night
Nick Glass (Atlanta/St. Pius X) has been committed to Georgia for several months, and the 6-foot-1, 195-pound defensive back has become one of the strongest recruiters for the defending SEC East Champions. He is excited about his first Dawg Night.
“I am looking forward to bonding with the other commits and talking to a few targets that UGA has their sights on,” Glass said. “I want to sell the school that I feel is best, so I tell them the positives -- and even the negatives, but mostly positives -- and then they end up falling in love with it after I tell them everything.”

LB McMillan invests time with future Dawgs
“I came to Athens just to be around the guys, Nick Glass (Atlanta/Saint Pius X), Demarre Kitt (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) and Shaq Wiggins (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek),” McMillan said. “They might be future teammates so I came and visited them.”
The sight of McMillan hanging around four Georgia commits had the coaches smiling.
