Georgia Bulldogs: Rashaan Evans
Each week, Tales From The Road will provide news and updates about where Georgia’s coaches have been and what prospects are standing out.
This week’s targets: Last Monday Mike Bobo and Will Friend saw Lowndes (Ga.) High School offensive lineman Dyshon Sims, who would get an offer from Georgia two days later. On Tuesday Tony Ball dropped on wide receiver commitment Krenwick Sanders at Wayne County (Ga.) High School and Todd Grantham and Kirk Olivadotti checked in on ESPN 150 linebacker target Raekwon McMillan (Hinesville, Ga./Liberty County) . Grantham also visited ESPN 150 LB targets Rashaan Evans (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) and Jacob Pugh (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby) that day. Defensive line coach Chris Wilson saw safety target Cortez McDowell (Locust Grove, Ga./Locust Grove) and John Lilly saw Callaway 2015 athlete target Terry Godwin (Hogansville, Ga./Callaway). On Thursday, Grantham and Lakatos saw ESPN 150 CB targets Nicholas Ruffin (Atlanta/St. Pius X) and D.J. Smith (Marietta, Ga./Walton), and evaluated Cameron Albright (Kennesaw, Ga./North Cobb).
Area of interest: North Carolina has been good the Georgia Bulldogs. The running back tandem of Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall can attest to that. When the ESPN 150 was released, 10 players from the Tar Heel State made the initial list, which is only one prospect less than the state of Georgia and the same as the entire state of California. The No. 3 tight end in the nation, Jeb Blazevich, has already committed to Georgia, and the Bulldogs lead for the No. 10 overall prospect in defensive tackle Lamont Gaillard (Fayetteville, N.C./Pine Forest).

BUFORD, Ga. -- Before Saturday, Rashaan Evans (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) had flown a bit under the radar. The ESPN Watch List linebacker has close to 30 scholarship offers, but his name doesn’t come up in the national conversation about the other elite linebackers.
That might change after Saturday's Atlanta NFTC. Evans turned heads with his performance, and even he was surprised with how well he did.

The RN Top 10 will appear throughout the camp and combine season and rank prospects based strictly on their on-field performance at that particular event. It does not reflect what their overall prospect ranking will be when the 2014 rankings are unveiled this spring.
BUFORD, Ga. – With 276 players taking part in the Atlanta Nike Football Training Camp on Saturday, there were dozens of prospects in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 classes who had already been offered by FBS programs. Six of the participants were awarded invitations to the The Opening later the summer.
10. Terronne Prescod
Lithonia (Ga.) Columbia |OG|6-foot-4, 320 pounds
The offensive linemen at the Atlanta NFTC were not an overly impressive group, but Prescod stood out, not just because of his hairstyle. He locked up and drove back multiple defensive tackles and showed an impressive base.
Prescod is approaching 10 offers, and has scholarship opportunities with Missouri, Ole Miss and Virginia. At the moment, Prescod says Missouri is standing out. Watch out for Auburn if they offer, as they seem to be the school he feels most at home with right now.
Craig Haubert’s take: “Prescod did a nice job in the offensive line group that was not among the strongest at the NFTC this year. He showed good bend and strong punch and he has outstanding size, both in height and bulk.”

BUFORD, Ga. -- The Southeast, in particular Georgia, prides itself on its football talent. When the 2013 Nike Football Training Camp tour made a stop outside of Atlanta on Saturday, the recruits who participated did not disappoint. After a competitive Saturday, dominated for the most part by the defensive line, six players earned invitations to The Opening.

ATLANTA -- More than 1,700 student-athletes took part Saturday in the Nike SPARQ Combine here, a record for the event. Players from across the Southeast braved freezing conditions, snow flurries and significant wind chill to compete and test their athletic ability in the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, vertical jump and power ball throw. ATHENS, Ga. -- As Georgia closes out its 2013 recruiting cycle, the coaching staff is hitting the road and the film room to evaluate the next crop of talented recruits. A few offers already have gone out to some members of the Class of 2014, but each week new names emerge.

Having a family full of Auburn alumni means that most the fall Saturdays of outside linebacker Rashaan Evans (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) involved watching the Tigers. So spending the day in Athens, Ga., for the Bulldogs’ game against Tennessee was quite an eye-opening experience.
“Georgia fans, they are crazy,” Evans said. “I have never seen anything like that. They were like a whole different type of fan base compared to Auburn. Auburn is more laid back, but Georgia, they are kind of on the wild side.”
Evans can expect more surprises as he ventures out to some of the other schools that are recruiting the Class of 2014 defender. Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Mississippi State, North Carolina and Louisiana Tech have all offered Evans a scholarship, but he has not visited any of them except for Auburn.
