The Georgia coaching staff spent this past week sending out offers to some of the top players in the country. From running backs to defensive ends, the coaches dove into the Class of 2014 with vigor, just days after the ink was dry on the Class of 2013. Before hosting a junior day on Saturday, they sent out a new offer to one of the premier wideouts in Louisiana on Friday.

Only special players pick up offers as sophomores and even fewer of them get early offers from top SEC programs. Defensive end DeAndre Walker (Fairburn, Ga./Langston Hughes) qualifies as special.

Georgia makes a move for Watch List CB

ESPN Watch List cornerback Nicholas Ruffin (Atlanta/St. Pius X) visited the University of Georgia on Saturday for the Bulldogs’ second junior day of the 2014 recruiting cycle.

Ruffin has verbal offers from programs such as LSU, Alabama, Florida State and South Carolina, among others, on his growing list. Georgia tried to pull ahead of the pack with the in-state athlete while Ruffin was in Athens.

“It went very well.” Ruffin said. “They definitely helped their cause. I liked the sense of family -- I felt at home. All of the coaches seemed genuinely interested. For me there was a sense of welcome and I liked their great facilities. And on top of that Mark Richt is a phenomenal coach.”

Sophomore DT picks up first offer

The state of Georgia is known for its defensive linemen. With three of the top defensive prospects in the nation for the class of 2013 and seven more on the ESPN Watch List for 2014, the Peach State is a first stop for coordinators that want to win in the trenches.

Sawyer gets the offer he wanted

The Georgia coaching staff has offered a number of North Gwinnett (Ga.) High School prospects over the years. Senior offensive tackle DeVondre Seymour just signed the Bulldogs 10 days ago and sophomore offensive tackle Mitch Hyatt was offered last week.

Richt does homework, offers 2014 CB

Camden County (Ga.) High School is a powerhouse program in south Georgia. And if Mark Richt has his way it will be a pipeline of talent to his Bulldogs. He already has quarterback Brice Ramsey and offensive utility man J.J. Green as early enrollees for the Class of 2013.
