WR Josh Malone with new SEC offer
By Dave Hooker
Josh Malone's latest SEC offer has him intrigued for several reasons.
When Georgia visited Malone's school, Gallatin (Tenn.) Station Camp, on Tuesday, there was a scholarship offer in tow. The Bulldogs' offense has him intrigued him on two levels.
"I think it is great," the 6-foot-2, 189-pound receiver said. "They have a real good offense. They really throw the ball."
Yet Malone, who is the No. 124 prospect in the ESPN 150, doesn't want an offense that's too pass happy. He respects a running game to keep defenses honest. Georgia certainly sports that. The Bulldogs had two standout freshmen tailbacks last season: Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley.
"The ground attack helps a lot," Malone said. "It makes it hard for the defense."
Malone hasn't visited Athens yet. He is being recruited to Georgia by offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. He's also recently seen coaches from Louisville (Tuesday) and UCLA (Monday).
"It's been a lot," Malone said when asked how many coaches had visited his school recently during the spring evaluation period.
Malone has been wide open to the recruiting process. He hasn't eliminated any of the dozens of schools that have offered him a scholarship. That will soon change. Malone said he will cut his potential list of schools down to 10 within a couple of weeks.
"I've been narrowing it down a little," Malone said.
Malone is the No. 4 prospect in Tennessee. He is the No. 15 receiver in the nation.
"Really still open," Malone said. "Going to a place where I believe I can be successful."
