DT Lamont Gaillard has Florida No. 1
By Derek Tyson
GAINESville, Fla. -- Defensive tackle Lamont Gaillard (Fayetteville, N.C./Pine Forest) visited Florida for its annual spring game on Saturday. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound interior defensive lineman has offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida State and North Carolina among many others, but the Gators made a strong impression on the talented lineman.
"It was good -- I love Florida," Gaillard said. "I may actually get a chance to come here but I just want to visit one more school and that is Georgia and I will decide after that."
Lamont Gaillard's latest trip to Gainesville has vaulted the Gators to the top of his list.
While on his visit, Gaillard had a chance to meet with Florida head coach Will Muschamp.
"He was wanting me to come here," Gaillard said. "I am the number one to them as of right now, so hopefully that will be my chance to come here. He loves the way I play, he loves everything I do so hopefully I just jump in the boat and be a Gator. Most likely I will be a Gator as of now but I haven't seen Georgia yet."
So what is it about Georgia that is making him delay making a decision?
"I don't know," Gaillard said. "I have not been to UGA yet and I have been to Florida plenty of times."
Gaillard said the way Florida has recruited him has made an impression on him.
"They came at me strong, I like someone coming at me," Gaillard said. "To [kiss up] to me most likely."
Gaillard will visit South Carolina this upcoming weekend before visiting Georgia the following weekend.
