Watch List WR cuts list, returns to UGA

By Radi Nabulsi

ATHENS, Ga. -- ESPN Watch List wide receiver Demarre Kitt (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) recently cut his mammoth offer list down to a top-15 group of schools that he will consider.

“It got crazy at one point with almost everybody that offered me trying to talk to me,” Kitt said. “So I had to cut my list down to 15 schools. After spring practice I will cut it down to eight or 10. At the end of summer I will do five and then go from there.”

Kitt says that Clemson, Ohio State, Auburn and Tennessee are standing out to him right now but that Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, Michigan, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Texas, USC, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and UCLA all made the cut.

A number of schools are recruiting Kitt harder than the rest of the pack.

“Clemson, Auburn, Georgia, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Texas, Tennessee is really hitting me up the most,” Kitt said. “Tennessee and Auburn want me to come in and play as a freshman and be an impact receiver. It is better to come in with a coach than leave out with a coach.”

Kitt recently took in the first day of spring camp at Georgia. The talented junior was committed to the Bulldogs for six months last year before he decommitted to explore all of his options.

“We went up there to watch spring practice,” Kitt said. “I got a chance to get back and see the coaches that I had not seen in a while. They need receivers. I like the tempo of the offense they run and the variety of it.”

Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator Mike Bobo has been criticized for running a predictable offense. Kitt doesn’t see it that way and said that were it true, being predictable isn’t always bad.

“Sometimes that is good thing,” Kitt said. “If you keep running it you know it is going to work, even if they know what is coming.”

The 6-foot, 196-pound wide receiver received a personal invitation to attend the Bulldogs’ practice from head coach Mark Richt.

“I called him and we talked about spring practice,” Kitt said. “He asked me to come back up there so that is what happened. That means something. He took the time out of his day to reach out to me so I had to return the favor.”

Kitt plans to visit many of the schools on his list, including South Carolina, Oregon and possibly Texas.

“I really want to get out there and visit,” Kitt said. “I hear it is really nice. And they say they need receivers so I have to consider that.”
