2014 DE Harris draws interest from SEC
By Corey Dowlar
Class of 2014 defensive end Trent Harris (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park) is legitimately on the radar, if he wasn't before, that is.
Over the last two weeks, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect has added offers from ACC schools Boston College and Florida State.
Wednesday, the Georgia Bulldogs entered the picture with an offer.
"Oh yeah, I was very excited," he said. "Especially because it's in the SEC, one of the best conferences in the country."
Georgia assistant coach Tony Ball initially reached out to the Harris party. It was during their phone call that the Florida prospect found out an offer was there with his name on it.
"He told me they liked what they saw on film and that I had a good take off," he said. "He said that I would fit in their defense well, and they would like to offer me."
As a 4-3 defensive end in high school, Harris would face a little bit of change playing in Georgia's defense. Instead of having his hand in the dirt all the time, he'd be an outside linebacker coming off the edge.
And it would be a challenge Harris is up for.
"It's a little bit different, but I'd like it," he said.
One way or another, Harris says he will travel Athens at the next opportunity.
"I'll definitely visit," he said.
Harris' last visit to a college campus was to Florida State last weekend, where he was offered.
