Watch List LB Mouhon eats up Athens
By Radi Nabulsi
In the past month, 2014 linebacker Kevin Mouhon (Norcross, Ga./Norcross) has quickly become one of the hottest recruiting targets in the Peach State.
The ESPN Watch List junior now has double-digit offers from programs including Florida State, Ohio State, Nebraska and Penn State. On Saturday he checked out the in-state Bulldogs, a visit that brought out his competitive nature.
Mouhon visited with two other top ESPN Watch List prospects, teammates Lorenzo Carter and Myles Autry. When the trio hit the East Campus Village for lunch, an impromptu competitive eating contest broke out.
“My favorite part might have been going out to eat,” Mouhon said. “They’ve got a nice food court, like an all-you-can-eat buffet. Those milkshakes were nice. I had a chocolate milkshake, banana split milkshake; it was amazing. Lorenzo and I had a food fight -- like, how-much-we-can-eat competition.”
The food at the East Campus Village always draws rave reviews, but Mouhon liked the rest of his visit as well.
“It was pretty good,” he said. “We just talked to the coaches. They just told us about the program, about the defense and the team and they showed us the facilities. It was pretty nice. I mean, they’re running a 3-4 and at Norcross we run a 4-3, but I can adjust myself to being on a 3-4 defense I guess. I spoke to a lot of people, a lot of coaches.”
Carter and Autry have offers from Georgia, but Mouhon does not -- at least not yet.
“My most recent offer was from Mississippi State, and I have 11 offers,” Mouhon said. “I don’t think Georgia’s going to offer anytime soon, because they’re not quick to offer, like, juniors. I think they’re going to wait until my senior year to say anything offer wise.”
Meanwhile, Mouhon’s food war in Athens could help him with his latest goal: trying to grow as much as his offer list.
“During the season I weighed 207 but now weigh 220 because I’m trying to gain some weight,” Mouhon said. “I had to do it. Lorenzo had, like, a Philly cheese steak and I had, like, simple stuff but I had a lot of it.”
