ESPN 300 DE comments on photo

The official visits are over for ESPN 300 defensive end Davin Bellamy (Chamblee, Ga./Chamblee). The 6-foot-4, 235-pound pass-rusher has taken trips to Florida State, Tennessee, Georgia and Oregon, with the Ducks sneaking in for his last official over the weekend. The former Seminoles commitment said the trip to Oregon went well, besides one small mishap.

The talented recruit created quite the stir over the weekend when he tweeted a photo of himself in an Oregon dorm room during his official. The photo, which he quickly deleted, showed Bellamy, along with several others, with what appears to be a water pipe. The device is commonly known for recreational drug use. When questioned about the incident, Bellamy’s tone quickly changed to regret and embarrassment.

“I did not even know that was there,” Bellamy said. “These girls just told us to come in their room and take a pic and we were there for like 30 seconds tops. I deleted it as soon as I noticed, but it just blew up and I cannot believe that happened.”

Aside from the incident, Bellamy said he enjoyed his time in Eugene.

“It was a pretty good visit,” Bellamy said. “Facility wise, it was probably my best visit so far. They do a lot with their linebackers there with blitzing from all directions and sometimes they get free licks on the quarterback. It was better than I expected.”

The in-state Bulldogs appear to have maintained the driver’s seat to land the four-star prospect on signing day Feb. 6.

“Georgia is still my leader going into my decision,” Bellamy said. “I spoke to them on Friday before I left for my official. They told me to try not to fall in love with my last visit.”

Bellamy says he plans to announce his decision at his high school at approximately 10:45 a.m on Wednesday.
