WR Kyrin Priester commits to NC State
By Radi Nabulsi
Fresh off of an upset victory over No. 3 FSU, the NC State coaches received some good news on the recruiting trail as ESPN 300 wide receiver Kyrin Priester (Snellville, Ga./Brookwood) made a commitment to the Wolfpack on Saturday.
Former Georgia commit Kyrin Priester has now chosen NC State after Saturday's upset win over Florida State.
“I am officially committed to NC State,” Priester said Sunday.
The late-evening upset made a strong impression on Priester while he was in attendance.
“That had a lot to do with it, the way they kept fighting and everything,” Priester said. “The atmosphere was crazy. But the big reason I committed was the coaches -- Coach [Troy] Walters, Coach [Mike] Reed and Coach [Tom] O’Brien.”
The coaching staff seemed to be impressed with the former Georgia commit and have recruited him hard for months.
“Coach O’Brien was happy about it,” Priester said. “He gave me a big hug and said, 'Welcome to the family.' "
Priester transferred to Brookwood High School in the spring, leaving behind some close friends back in Florida. The chance at a partial reunion in college also played a part in his commitment.
“And my best friend Jerod Fernandez (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary) committed there as well so I get to play with him again,” Priester said. “I am not going to take any more visits. I am done.”
