Bulldogs offer 2014 LB Korie Rogers

6/9/2012

ATHENS, Ga. -- Linebacker Korie Rogers (Buford, Ga./ Buford) will have a nice answer when his dad comes home and asks how the Mark Richt 7-on-7 camp went. Rogers hasn’t told his father yet, but the talented 2014 defender now has a Georgia offer to go with his previous offers from Florida, Penn State and East Carolina.

“Georgia offered me and it is exciting,” Rogers said. “It caught me by surprise. I was just going down there for the 7-on-7 with my team. I will tell my dad when he gets home.”

Rogers’ father should be excited considering who he has rooted for in the past.

“My dad was a big Bulldog fan and I grew up liking the Bulldogs, but I do not have a college team right now,” Rogers said.

The 6-foot-2, 218-pound linebacker is another in a long line of Buford Wolves who have received offers from Georgia. So far he isn’t sure if the offer is at inside or outside linebacker.

“Coach [Kirk] Olivadotti came by and said, ‘Hello Korie,’ and I shook his hand," Rogers said. "He said, ‘Come take a ride with me.’ I thought he was kidding and laughed it off a little bit. Then I got in the golf cart and he said ‘We are going to offer you a full scholarship.’ ”

Olivadotti drove Rogers to meet with Mark Richt and more of the staff.

“Richt said they were pleased with what I had done today and that they liked what they saw,” Rogers said. “He said they were going to offer me.”

Rogers' teammate and Georgia offensive guard commit Josh Cardiello (Buford, Ga./Buford) was also in Athens going through the lineman camp and has plans to work on Rogers.

“He has been on me before I got the offer,” Rogers said. “He is a cool dude.”

Said Cardiello: “He will be a Bulldog if I have anything to do about it.”
