ATHENS, Ga. -- At the conclusion of the first day of the two-day Mark Richt 7-on-7 tournament it was obvious that there were more than just five standouts. We listed the top performers here, but there were several players who caught the coaches' attention. Here is a by-no-way-complete list of honorable mentions from Thursday.

  • 2013 DL Marcus Adams (Atlanta, Ga./Tri-Cities): Adams continues to impress. Garner worked with him extensively. Adams won the Defensive Lineman MVP award at the Atlanta Nike camp and to this day I have yet to see him be blocked effectively. If he were two inches taller he would have 20 offers. He was not blocked in the one-on-ones Thursday.
  • 2014 CB Donquell Green (Waynesboro, Ga./Burke County): Green guided his team to the semifinals by playing quarterback and cornerback. One of the smallest guys on the field, Green made huge completions and shut down bigger wide receivers. His future is not at quarterback, but Thursday he led his team to the final four by doing what was needed and never coming off the field. He also lined up in the slot and scored two quick touchdowns with some fancy moves to help Burke County advance. Green recently received an invitation to the 2012 Rising Seniors game.
