UGA scouting combine update

The individual player workouts hit full swing Saturday at the NFL Scouting Combine and two players from Georgia -- offensive lineman Cordy Glenn and tight end Orson Charles -- were among the early winners.

The 6-foot-6, 345-pound Glenn drew rave reviews from scouts and analysts for his performances in multiple measurable drills, showing good speed and strength that might help him crack the first round in the upcoming draft.

Glenn ran a 5.19-second 40-yard dash -- the sixth-best time among offensive linemen -- which NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock described as "a ridiculous number" for a player Glenn's size. He also completed 31 repetitions of 225 pounds in the bench press, which ranked eighth among offensive linemen.

Speaking of the bench press, that's where Charles raised the most eyebrows on Saturday. Charles completed 35 reps, which was the most of any tight end or offensive lineman except Michigan center David Molk, who completed 41 reps.

Charles earned mixed reviews in some other drills and opted not to run the 40, although he remains in the mix alongside Stanford's Coby Fleener and Clemson's Dwayne Allen to become the first tight end picked in the draft. He weighed in at 251 pounds in Indianapolis, which was a 10-pound increase over his playing weight at UGA.

Charles also earned high praise from Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin, who served as an on-field analyst for the NFL Network's combine coverage Saturday.

Georgia offensive linemen Justin Anderson and Ben Jones also participated in Saturday's combine workouts.

Anderson completed 32 reps in the bench press, which tied for third among offensive linemen and Jones had 29, which tied for 13th.

Jones ran a 5.44 in the 40.

Here is an extensive list of combine performances on Saturday.

Quarterbacks, receivers and running backs are scheduled to work out Sunday. No Bulldogs will be included in that group.

DeAngelo Tyson will work out with the other defensive linemen Monday and Brandon Boykin will work out alongside the other defensive backs Tuesday.
