ESPN Watch List cornerback Nicholas Ruffin (Atlanta/St. Pius X) visited the University of Georgia on Saturday for the Bulldogs’ second junior day of the 2014 recruiting cycle.
Ruffin has verbal offers from programs such as LSU, Alabama, Florida State and South Carolina, among others, on his growing list. Georgia tried to pull ahead of the pack with the in-state athlete while Ruffin was in Athens.
“It went very well.” Ruffin said. “They definitely helped their cause. I liked the sense of family -- I felt at home. All of the coaches seemed genuinely interested. For me there was a sense of welcome and I liked their great facilities. And on top of that Mark Richt is a phenomenal coach.”
Ruffin spent some time talking with the Bulldogs' head coach.
“He pretty much told me that he didn’t know what side of the ball I want to play on.” Ruffin said. “He asked me where I wanted to play because he could see me on either side. I told him as long as I get to keep moving forward and I get to make an impact I am okay with either.
“Coach Richt said a lot of the reason why they are so interested in me is because I have strong interests off the field as well. I put an emphasis on that too and they are into developing young men and not just football players.”
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound junior said he could see himself in multiple roles at Georgia -- or anywhere else.
“Playing a receiver or the slot or being a safety or cornerback -- it all depends on how it works out if I go there.” Ruffin said.
Ruffin plans to visit Auburn on Feb. 23.
