Kell Classic's 5 games full of top talent

8/28/2012

The Corky Kell Classic started out as just a doubleheader back in 1992. In its 21st edition this year, a fifth game has been added to the slate -- ten of the best teams in Georgia will go head-to-head at the Georgia Dome on Saturday.

More than 40 players in the games are projected to play FBS football at the next level. Here are some to keep an eye on.

Game One: Kell vs Chattahoochee, 9 a.m.

DB Quincy Mauger (Marietta, Ga./Kell): The 6-foot, 199-pound safety committed to Georgia at Dawg Night after earning an offer from the Bulldogs at the Mark Richt Camp in June.

CB Brendan Langley (Marietta, Ga./Kell): Langley committed to South Carolina earlier this month over offers from Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. The ESPN 300 prospect intends on taking official visits to South Carolina, Tennessee and UCLA.

OL Donnell Greene (Marietta, Ga./Kell): The 6-foot-6, 280-pound class of 2014 prospect camped at Georgia in June, and Kell head coach Derek Cook says he has had a solid fall camp so far. Developing prospect to keep an eye on based on size.

S Taylor Henkle (Marietta, Ga./Kell): A playmaker on offense and always around the ball on defense, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound junior might be the best overall football player on the Longhorns squad. Programs such as Duke, N.C. State and Georgia Tech would do well to take a look at Henkle.

QB Travis Marshall (Alpharetta, Ga./Chattahoochee): The 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback started all 12 games for the Cougars last year, throwing for 1,700 yards and 18 touchdowns and rushing for almost 650 yards. He recently committed to Navy.

LB Brian Sykes (Alpharetta, Ga./Chattahoochee): The 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect has picked up several FCS offers, and is one to watch heading into his senior year.

RB C.J. Leggett (Alpharetta, Ga./Chatahoochee): A bowling ball of a tailback at 5-foot-9, 190 pounds, the rising junior ran for more than 600 yards and 10 touchdowns last year as part of a devastating 2014 one-two punch in the backfield.

RB Chase Nelson (Alpharetta, Ga./Chattahoochee): The 5-foot-9, 215-pound running back forms the other half of the backfield duo. Nelson also ran for more than 600 yards and double-digit touchdowns. Look for Nelson and Leggett to get a close look from colleges this fall.

Game Two: Grayson vs. McEachern, 11:45 a.m.
