Tyrone Crowder (Rockingham, N.C./Richmond), the No. 1 prospect in North Carolina, was in Athens Friday, but not for Dawg Night. The 6-foot-2, 325-pound offensive lineman target left in the afternoon to travel to Auburn, but his time on campus left a good impression on Crowder.
“My visit to Georgia was awesome,” Crowder said. “I got to talk to Coach [Mark] Richt, visit around the campus, and check out the dorms and academic center.”
The Under Armour All-American spent a lot of time with the Bulldogs’ head coach, and he had glowing things to say about both Richt and offensive line coach Will Friend.
“Coach Richt is a great coach and a great person,” Crowder said. “He told pretty much his life story and things about UGA. I enjoyed it. Coach Friend is a great, down to earth, upfront type of guy.”
The No. 97 prospect in the country left Athens with little doubt that he is wanted ‘between the hedges.’
There is mutual interest between the two, and it looks like Crowder will make a return visit this fall.
“Georgia is one of my top choices and they really want me to be a part of their program,” Crowder said.
“I do not have an official top five yet, but I will after this Auburn visit. Georgia will get an official for sure.”
