Possessing the size and speed to contribute at cornerback, safety or receiver at the next level, Under Armour All-American selection Trae Elston (Oxford, Ala./Oxford) has racked offers from across the country. The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect told Jamie Newberg last week during his Under Armour jersey presentation that he is mainly looking at three programs at the moment.
"I am talking with Tennessee, Florida and Georgia a lot," Elston told Newberg. "I will make official visits to those schools and wait until after the season. Right now it's likely that I am leaving the state."
With no defensive backs committed and the need to add another wideout, Georgia could benefit from Clemson, Elston's childhood favorite, having filled up at his position. Born in Augusta, Ga., and living there until first grade, Elston is closer to an in-state prospect than many of the top recruits now living in the Peach State. Elston attended the Mark Richt Camp last year, and he was also in Athens this spring for the Nike Football Training Camp. The four-star recruit let DawgNation know Sunday night that he might be making a third trip to the Classic City soon.
"I am giving Georgia an official visit and I am trying to make it up for the Auburn game next weekend," Elston said. "I have always had interest in them, I have just kept it hidden."
