A few days before national signing day 2012, Georgia entertained many of its top targets for the 2013 class. A team can never start too early in the cutthroat world of recruiting.
One of those top targets is offensive lineman Brandon Kublanow (Marietta, Ga./Walton). The old-school brawler has a load of offers already and is picking up more by the week. His offer from Georgia, though, had the talented lineman checking out Athens for Georgia's Junior Day.
“It was good. It was a lot of fun,” Kublanow said. “I got to talk to the coaches a lot more and see a lot more. On game day everything happened pretty quickly, you have to get to the stadium pretty quickly. But we had a lot more time.”

In the last RecruitingNation 411 before national signing day, our host of recruiting experts from around the country shares all the latest information on what the top uncommitted recruits are thinking, and where they might end up.
Chester Brown’s (Hinesville, Ga./Bradwell Institute) long journey will end with a new beginning. The Samoan–born lineman has found a new home after having to decommit from the Bulldogs due to a new immigration law on the books in the state of Georgia.
“I am going to sign on national signing day,” Brown said. “I am going to sign with the University of Central Florida.”
The UCF Knights will be getting a 6-foot-5, 332-pound athlete who is not only switching commitments, but switching positions.

With national signing day less than 48 hours away, the Bulldogs got a jump on finishing their class with the commitment of defensive back Sheldon Dawson (Memphis, Tenn./Ridgeway).
"It's Georgia," Dawson said Monday night. "I am a Georgia Bulldog!"
Dawson committed to Georgia on the heels of his visit this past weekend to Ole Miss. It came down to a battle between the Rebels, the Bulldogs and the Memphis Tigers. The 6-foot-0, 178-pound cornerback had been committed to the Tigers for a long while before his recruitment exploded. Dawson received more than 16 offers from schools all over the nation, including SEC powerhouses Alabama and Arkansas.

The Georgia Bulldogs hosted four in-state standouts on official visits over the weekend, and each has a chance to make an impact for Georgia over the next four years. DawgNation spoke to each of them to find out how the trip went, and what their hopes are for the future.
Barber ready to fill big shoes
One position that Georgia has been able to reload at consistently is punter. The last four, Jonathan Kilgo, Gordon Ely-Kelso Brian Mimbs and Drew Butler have all made All-SEC teams over the last decade, with Butler being a two time All-American and Ray Guy Award winner. Now the Bulldogs will head into the 2012 season with another highly talented freshman, Collin Barber (Cartersville, Ga./Cartersville). Barber, who averaged over 45 yards a punt this year, was a 2nd team ESPNHS All-American, All-State and All-County selection. He knows the pressure will be on immediately, but he is ready to come in and compete for the starting job.

Reports on Monday morning had former UGA commit Chester Brown (Hinesville, Ga./Bradwell Institute) committing to UCF over the weekend after an official visit to the Orlando campus.
However, that might not be the case. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported soon after that Brown's coach at Bradwell, Jim Walsh, was unsure of the accuracy of the reports.

With national signing day fast approaching on Wednesday, here's a look at the latest involving SEC schools:
- Tennessee lost ESPNU 150 linebacker Dalton Santos to Texas. Santos had started looking around again after Tennessee lost defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox and linebackers coach Peter Sirmon to Washington. Santos, who's from Van, Texas, is rated by ESPN as the No. 1 inside linebacker prospect in the country. The Longhorns didn't offer Santos until late, and he confirmed on Sunday that he would be signing with Texas.
- The Vols are one of the favorites for Cordarrelle Patterson, who's rated as one of the top junior college receivers in the country. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Patterson is originally from Rock Hill, S.C., but is currently at Huchinson (Kan.) Community College. Georgia and Ole Miss are also finalists for Patterson.
Sheldon Dawson (Memphis, Tenn./Ridgeway) is one of the most coveted prospects still uncommitted at this point. This three-star recruit made an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend.
“Ole Miss was cool,” Dawson said. “It’s close to home and only an hour or so away. It’s a good program overall, and I like coach [Hugh] Freeze. I think he will get them winning. The opportunity to play early is very good there as well. I like the new defensive coordinator and the scheme they are going to run. Plus, my teammate [Jaylen Walton] will be going there and that will help.”
Going into the visit the University of Georgia was the team to beat for Dawson. Is that still the case?

As the clock struck midnight Saturday, the contact period was finally done. There will be no more off-campus contact or official visits before signing day arrives Wednesday. But the Georgia Bulldogs were able to squeeze in one last in-home with outside linebacker target Josh Dawson (Tucker, Ga./Tucker). The 6-foot-4, 228-pound senior has been committed to Vanderbilt since last summer, but the Bulldogs have not given up in their attempts to reel in the talented edge rusher. The Commodores had made their last pitch earlier in the week.
“The last time I saw Vanderbilt was Tuesday after my basketball game,” Dawson said. “Coach [Sean] Spencer and Coach [Bob] Shoop had a little PowerPoint presentation and showed me some clips on how they could use me. I think it was a productive visit.”
Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin made an in-home with Dawson this month, and Saturday night Dawson was expecting to see Georgia head coach Mark Richt, but he said Richt make it, because of a family emergency. Dawson was not affected by Richt’s absence.
