Tony Parker, a senior at Miller Grove (Lithonia, Ga.), is the No. 21 player in the Class of 2012 and one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation, with UConn, Duke, UCLA, Ohio State, Georgetown, Memphis, Kentucky and Kansas all in the running for his services. He has agreed to chronicle the remainder of his final season and recruiting experiences leading up to his decision through a blog with ESPNHS. Read it here.

Former Georgia Bulldogs WR Hines Ward, one of the Pittsburgh Steelers' most decorated receivers, will be released by the NFL team at some point in the next few weeks, according to reports. Read more here.

And ESPN's Jamison Hensley writes: Ward's release shows the painful side of sports, but the Steelers made the right call by deciding to release him.

Dogs set to visit streaking Wildcats

ATHENS, Ga. -- Mark Fox didn’t exactly give a straight answer Wednesday when asked whether last Saturday’s upset win against No. 16 Florida brought a new confidence to his team.

“A win Thursday would give you great confidence,” Fox said with a grin.

The possibility of Fox’s Georgia club (13-15, 4-10 SEC) winning Thursday’s 9 p.m. ET game at Kentucky is not necessarily laughable, but it certainly seems unlikely.

Undefeated Georgia moved up to seventh in this week's ESPN college baseball power rankings.

The Bulldogs (8-0) came into today's game against Western Carolina off consecutive shutouts against Winthrop on Sunday and Savannah State on Tuesday. It was the first time since 1986 that Georgia pitchers posted back-to-back shutouts.

Georgia -- ranked 10th in this week's USA Today/ESPN coaches poll -- already has three shutouts this season after posting two in the entire 2011 season.

DE Jalen Stevens checks out Georgia

Defensive coordinator Todd Grantham didn’t know who the 6-foot-4, 220-pound defensive end was, the one who had traveled to Athens with top wide receiver target Tramel Terry (Goose Creek, S.C./Goose Creek) for a campus visit this past weekend. That changed pretty quickly.

“I talked to the defensive coordinator,” said Jalen Stevens (Goose Creek, S.C./Goose Creek). “He didn’t know who I was until I told him. He asked me what I thought about Georgia football and I said it was pretty good. He told me I would be a good fit at outside linebacker. And Coach [John] Lilly told me he would like to see me on my feet since I played middle linebacker this year. He said he definitely wants me to come to Dawg Night.”

Stevens, who recently ran a 4.58 in the 40-yard dash, didn’t know much about Georgia, either.

The University of Georgia picked up its seventh commitment of the 2013 class Tuesday, and it might end up being the biggest in the class.

With VID (Very Important Dawg) Day only a few days away, one of the top prospects in the Peach State made the call to become a Bulldog. The coaching staff was only hoping to confirm his attendance on Saturday, but when they picked up the phone, they got great news from a key target at a position of need.

As defensive lineman Deandre Johnson (Newnan, Ga./Northgate) thought about it last night with his family, he discusses his intentions of committing to Georgia. The Johnson household was ecstatic about it, so this morning, Johnson got on the phone to the coaches in Athens.

A number of 2013 prospects in Georgia have seen their stock skyrocket practically overnight. On Monday they have zero offers then but by the time Saturday rolls around they have six SEC offers. Some recent examples include Antonio Riles (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer), Naim Mustafaa (Alpharetta, Ga./Alpharetta) and Vonn Bell (Rossville, Ga./Ridgeland). That trio exploded on the recruiting scene and now has close to 30 offers combined.

So who will be the next Peach State prospect to figuratively blow up?

According to Dutchtown head coach Jason Galt, it could very well be offensive lineman Jordan Harris (Hampton, Ga./Dutchtown).

Georgia's Brandon Boykin is in Indianapolis for the NFL scouting combine, but he won't compete when the defensive backs hit the field Tuesday.

Boykin hasn't fully recovered from a leg fracture he sustained last month when he was blocked in the back while covering a punt at the Senior Bowl. He says he's already walking on the leg and should make a full recovery soon, but he has not healed well enough to participate in the combine or in Georgia's pro day next week.

Boykin is eyeing an individual pro day sometime in April.

To hear an update from the man himself, here is a six-minute audio interview Boykin gave on the weekend in Indianapolis.

New kickoff rules suit UGA's Morgan

ATHENS, Ga. -- The NCAA recently finalized rules changes that will make kickoffs for touchbacks even more likely in college football.

That is particularly significant at Georgia -- a program that signed touchback specialist Marshall Morgan (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./American Heritage) earlier this month -- since the NCAA’s decision to move kickoffs up from the 30-yard line to the 35 could mean more touchbacks for the Bulldogs.

The rules and distances are slightly different for high schools -- Morgan’s kickoffs originated from the 40 -- but Morgan used his powerful right leg to boot all but one of his kickoffs for touchbacks as a senior in high school.

Tramel Terry (Goose Creek, S.C.) is one of the nation’s most coveted wide receivers. Last summer after Georgia’s Dawg Night summer camp he committed to Mark Richt and the Bulldogs. Shortly after, he backed off that pledge.

“I just did it too soon,” Terry said. “I wanted to look around just to be sure. I wanted to be sure that’s what I wanted to do. It just wasn’t fair to Georgia or me. Right now, I would consider myself open to Georgia, South Carolina, Clemson and Florida.”

This past weekend Terry traveled to Athens once again and visited Georgia unofficially.

Safety Vonn Bell (Rossville, Ga./Ridgeland) is one of the hottest prospects from the Peach State. He visited Auburn Saturday for its junior day.

“It was really good,” Bell said. “Me and my family met with the staff. That was great. They are not just about football. We talked a ton about academics and life. That was our first trip there and it was much better than I expected. They met all my requirements. The staff was open, it’s the SEC, I loved the environment and they have the majors I am interested in.”

Does that give the Tigers an early edge for this versatile defensive back prospect?
