ESPN 150 WR Bailey aims to decide soon

August, 15, 2012
ESPN 150 wide receiver Alvin Bailey (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) was offered by Florida on Wednesday afternoon and would like to make a final decision soon, according to Armwood head coach Sean Callahan.

The 2013 Under Armour All-America Game invitee has narrowed his list to South Carolina, UCF, Michigan and Florida State, but the Gators' offer does add a new wrinkle to the mix.

"Alvin was offered by Florida today, and no he's not committing tonight and he's not going to commit tomorrow, either," Callahan said. "He said he'd like to make his decision before Sept. 1, and I expect he'll be a man of his word and get it done before then."
TAMPA. Fla. -- With quarterback Pete DiNovo (Tarpon Springs, Fla./East Lake) and wide receiver Richard Benjamin (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Bay Tech) already in the fold, the UCF Knights were well represented at John Kaleo’s QB/WR Skills Camp on Friday.

Benjamin was often heard screaming "U-C-F" during the camp and has openly lobbied for his fellow Tampa-area prospects to join him at the Orlando university.

The big target that Benjamin was working on Friday was ESPN 150 wide receiver Alvin Bailey (Seffner, Fla./Armwood). And if you ask the ESPN 300 senior, he thinks it’s in the bag.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- One of the prospects Florida State had hoped to get on its campus for the Jimbo Fisher Camp last week as ESPN 150 prospect Alvin Bailey (Seffner, Fla./Armwood). But the No. 69 prospect in the country was nowhere to be seen in Tallahassee, prompting many to speculate that Bailey and the Seminoles had gone their separate ways. Bailey said on Friday, while at Champion Gridiron Kings, that is not the case just yet.

ESPN 150 WR Alvin Bailey has top eight

July, 21, 2012
ESPN 150 athlete Alvin Bailey (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) says he's down to eight programs, four coming from the SEC.

"Right now my top eight is South Carolina, UCF, Notre Dame, Florida State, Georgia, Texas A&M, Michigan and Auburn," Bailey said. "There's an order but that's only for me to know right now."

Bailey said he's planning on taking a trip to Georgia next week and although he didn't make the trip to Florida State with Jordan Sherit he's hoping to go to Tallahassee before August or on an unofficial during the season. He has taken visits UCF, Michigan, Notre Dame and Clemson.

IMG notes: Alvin Bailey talks travel

July, 1, 2012
BRADENTON, Fla. – ESPN 150 athlete Alvin Bailey (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) just wrapped up a trip of schools that included visits to Notre Dame, Michigan and Clemson. The 6-foot, 175-pound junior described what he liked about each program.

Notre Dame: “It’s a very tradition-oriented school. I saw a lot of religious people walking around there. Like a lot of nuns and other people involved with the church. Overall it was a laid back place though. Everyone was happy. I met with the academic advisor and he was great. He laid out everything for me and it’s a school with great academics and great athletics."

Michigan: “As soon as we got into town we could see the JumboTron with the big M and the stadium. And it’s the biggest stadium I’ve ever stepped foot in. I took a picture next to the JumboTron and then went inside talked to the coaches. The coaches were a lot of fun and I saw some of the facilities, like the weight room and stuff, before meeting with the academic advisor.

PLANT CITY, Fla. -- With several college coaches on hand to watch Armwood take on Plant City in a spring jamboree Thursday night, four-star wide receiver and ESPN 150 member Alvin Bailey (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) proved that he is one of the top receivers in the Southeast.

Bailey, who has committed to play in the Under Armor All-America Game next January, totaled three receptions for 73 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown catch, despite playing just more than one quarter. Thursday's game was scheduled to go for one half but was cut short because of lightning in the surrounding area.

Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease and defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson were on hand to watch Bailey and his teammate Leon McQuay III. The Gators have three wide receiver commits and have yet to offer a scholarship to Bailey. Ranked as the No. 49 prospect in the country, Bailey says it may be too late for Florida to get back in the picture -- even if they do offer.

ATH Alvin Bailey likes USF visit

February, 13, 2012
If South Florida is going to make up ground in the ever-changing Big East it will be through signing some of the top talent in the Tampa Bay area.

In Sunday's junior day event, one of the players the Bulls coaching staff focused on was Armwood (Seffner, Fla.) athlete Alvin Bailey. The 6-foot, 180-pound junior was instrumental in helping the Hawks capture the Class 6A state championship in December.

Splitting time at quarterback, running back and wide receiver, Bailey threw for more than 800 yards and 10 touchdowns last season while adding over 1,200 rushing and receiving yards and another eight touchdowns.
