Rebels lead for 4-star DT Chris Williams
By Kipp Adams
TYRONE, Ga. – Unless a new offer comes along in the next three months, four-star prospect Chris Williams (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) could be the next highly rated defensive lineman from the Peach State headed to play for Hugh Freeze.
“Ole Miss is my leader because of the coaching staff,” Wiliams said. “I want to make my decision by August.”
The Rebels were in on the 6-foot-1, 285-pound defensive tackle first, and they have made Williams a priority for the 2014 class.
“Ole Miss was the first to offer me and they think I can be an impact player on their defensive line,” Williams said. “I have watched film on how they play and we do similar things here. If I went there my hands and quickness off the ball would be utilized. I talk to them every day and they showed me I was their No. 1 guy on the board when I visited.”
While other schools such as Tennessee are still in the mix, it appears two programs that have yet to offer could be the biggest threat to Ole Miss.
“The one school that has not offered that would definitely impact my decision is Georgia,” Williams said. “I have always been a Georgia fan. I would love to be close to home and I love the facilities and players. I would camp there again if I thought they might offer. FSU has mentioned possibly offering, and if they do I would have to get out there and visit. I like them and I have family down there, so an offer would mean a lot.”
