"Coach Trickett, the offensive line coach, they stopped by the school," he said. "I talked to him and he said, 'You know you have an offer, right?' I told him I didn't know that. I was pretty surprised. I am always surprised when stuff like that happens. I want to get some dates from the school for camps and see about visiting."
Now with offers from the likes of Alabama, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, FSU is right in the mix, he said.
"That definitely throws them in," Granier said. "I do like the coaches. Trickett has a tremendous record as far as coaching goes. He told me about the linemen making All-Conference honors.
"I want the best coaches there to give me the best opportunity and best player I can be."
Alabama, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and now most likely FSU, will get visits this summer from the big lineman.
He's got a plan to see the schools, facilities and the surrounding areas all in one swing.
"I am just going to one-day camps," Granier said. "When I go there, I am going to spend the night there most likely and get to know the city. That's a big part. I need to know that I am going to like where I am living."
Granier said that he has no favorites at this early stage, but he'd like to make a decision prior to the beginning of his senior season.
