McClendon to visit over the weekend

By Corey Dowlar

Florida State already has a quarterback on board for 2014, and even one for 2015, but that's not going to stop them from hosting another one on an unofficial visit this weekend.

Jalan McClendon (Charlotte, N.C./ West Mecklenburg), a 6-foot-4 pocket passer, is headed down to Tallahassee to see how Florida State operates.

"I just want to see how they run everything," he said. How they practice, how their school is overall and stuff like that."

There's been regular contact between both parties lately. Not only with the head coach, but assistants Randy Sanders and Jay Graham, too.

The interest appears to be mutual.

"It's been consistent," McClendon said. "I talk to [Jimbo Fisher] and Coach Sanders and Jay Graham. I talk to them a lot.

"They say they like me, and I like them and what they have to say."

This summer, McClendon said he will camp at Ohio State, Clemson, South Carolina, Georgia and maybe LSU.

And at this point, three schools in particular stand out to him.

"Florida State, [North] Carolina and Clemson," listed McClendon.

While the Seminoles are high on his list, McClendon doesn't have an offer yet. But he thinks that might be coming.

And it might be coming as soon as he visits Tallahassee regardless of J.J. Cosentino's (Pittsburgh/Central Catholic) commitment status.

"I talked with Jimbo Fisher and he asked who he was competing with," he said. "I told him Clemson and he asked if they offer. From the sounds of it, they might offer on Saturday."
