2015 RB Patrick has Gators out in front
By Derek Tyson
ROCKLEDGE, Fla. -- After visiting Florida for its junior day last weekend, running back Jacques Patrick (Orlando, Fla./Timber Creek) has the Gators out in front. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound athlete said Florida State is right behind Florida, and Miami is also near the top.
Patrick's comfort level with Florida is what has vaulted the Gators to the top of his list.
"I really named Florida because that was one of the schools I felt comfortable at," he said. "That’s a big thing in my decision, just picking a school [where] I feel comfortable. Not based on coaches or how facilities look and all that kind of stuff."
Patrick said he is starting to build a relationship with Florida running backs coach Brian White.
"I have a pretty good relationship with him," he said. "We’re still building. We’ve got a lot of time to build a relationship. I talked to him the other day. We really don’t talk about football that much. He just tries to give me life lessons since I’m so young. We’ve got a lot of time, so he’s just trying to give me life lessons and build on the relationship."
As for his future plans, Patrick said he will attend a Miami (Fla.) basketball game on March 9 in Coral Gables but has no other junior day visits planned.
Patrick said he is looking forward to meeting new Miami running backs coach Hurley Brown on his trip to Miami.
"They’ve got a lot of new stuff," he said of Miami. "They’re building a lot of new stuff. They’ve got a new running backs coach, Hurley Brown. He seems like a good guy. March 9th I finally get the chance to finally meet him, so it’s going to be pretty good."
Patrick said he will likely wait until signing day 2015 to announce his decision.
