Watch List DE calls UF visit 'dream trip'

By Derek Tyson

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Watch List defensive end Justin Thornton (Prichard, Ala./Vigor) might have arrived late to Florida's junior day on Saturday, but the talented defender called his trip to Gainesville a dream visit.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound athlete visited Florida for its junior day and came away impressed.

"It was great," Thornton said. "It was a dream trip. Everything I dreamed of, it was better than what I had seen on TV. I got to go inside the stadium. I got to meet the coaches and the academic people. I got to see everything."

Thornton said the Florida coaching staff already has an idea of where it wants him to play in its defense.

"I would be a buck player," Thornton said. "They just said 'if you come in here and work hard you are going to get in. We can't guarantee you a starting position.' But if I go in there and work hard, they are going to put me on the field."

Thornton, who visited Florida State last weekend and will travel to Auburn next weekend, said the Gators are his leader, but he will not make a decision until August.

In addition to Florida and FSU, Thornton also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina and USC.
